Nomination of a Director:
- Nominations open March 1 and close March 14th.
- To nominate someone, you need to submit the nominee name, photo, bio via a google link. Click here to submit a nominee
- Prior to accepting nomination, a scrutineer will
- Confirm the eligibility of both nominee and the nominator.
- Confirm the information with the nominee
- confirm that the nominee is willing to be nominated
- confirm that the nominee authorizes the OSA to share the information with the membership.
- Nominee names, phot and bio will be communicated via E-mail, and Facebook
- Online voting will begin March 20th and close on April 18th (after nominee presentations)
- Voting will be closed after nominee presentations at AGM.
- Members at meeting have the opportunity to vote
- Members present at the AGM will be able to vote in person via provided computers.
Role of a Director: (as outlined in the constitution)
- exercise general supervision over the affairs of the Association.
- oversee all committees and appoint new or temporary committees as necessary.
- can not designate a substitute to act on their behalf.
- will meet a minimum of four times per year, not including the AGM.
- are required to participate in a minimum of 50% of scheduled Board meetings.
- are not eligible for ay kind of remuneration from the OSA or CSA.
- are subject to the by-laws of the CSA.
Duties of a Director:
- Read the minutes of the previous meeting when received and also prior to an upcoming meeting.
- Make notes of any errors or omissions within the minutes.
- See if you were appointed or you accepted to do something and complete task within a timely manner. Be prepared to report on completed tasks at the next meeting.
- Read the Agenda for any upcoming meetings and offer additions to the Agenda
- Be prepared to attend all meetings if possible. Please send regrets if you cannot attend a meeting.
- Be prepared to actively participate in the meeting and bring forth your ideas and suggestions. Don’t be afraid to speak up. Everybody’s thoughts are valued and appreciated.
- Be prepared to offer your services and assist in things that need to be done. If you think you can help please do so. Many hands make light work and usually have more fun.
